Triangle breathing is one of the many yoga breathing exercises. Good to do in the evening time.
Benefits: sound sleep and relaxation.
Sit up or semi-reclined to do triangle breathing.
Use pranayama mudra for breath holds. Mudra means hand position and seal. Like blocking off.
Think of an upside down triangle while practicing triangle breathing. The flat side is at the top, that’s where you hold your breath for a count of 4 seconds using pranayama mudra hand position.
Inhale up the triangle for four seconds (without using hands), hold the breath for four seconds by pinching the nostrils using pranayama mudra, release hands from nostrils exhale for four seconds.
Pranayama mudra hand position for breath hold: Use the right hand. Put down both the index and middle fingers. Use the thumb and ringer finger to pinch the nostrils for breath hold. You can fold the pinky finger down as well so it’s not swinging in the air:)
Do three rounds of triangle breathing. 10x each.
Relax and get ready for a quality sound sleep.
